余姚市地处浙江东部沿海（属宁波市），襟山带海，姚江横贯其中，风光秀丽，物产阜隆，历史悠久，人文荟萃，为“东南名邑”。全市面积1500多平方公里，本市人口85万，外来人口40余万。境内的河姆渡遗址，改写了中华民族的文明史；以“四先贤”（严子陵、王阳明、黄梨洲、朱舜水）为代表的杰出历史人物使余姚赢得了“文献名邦”的美誉。改革开放以来，余姚经济迅猛发展，为全国百强县之一,2005年列百强县第11位；精神文明建设也取得了丰硕成果，被评为“全国文化模范县（市）”、“浙江省教育强县（市）”。

高风中学选址在余姚城东新区，东汉高士严子陵的墓便在附近的陈山（亦即“客星山”）。严子陵不慕富贵、不贪名利的高风亮节为后人所称颂，正如范仲淹的《严先生祠堂记》所写：“云山苍苍，江水泱泱，先生之风，山高水长”。为发扬光大先贤精神，高风中学因此而命名。

高风中学是由余姚市大众房地产开发有限公司独资创建的余姚市首家寄宿制完全中学，总投资2.3亿元人民币, 占地177亩，建筑面积8.5万平方米,绿化面积5万多平方米，设计规模为48个班级2100名学生，以普通高中为主。 学校按高起点、高标准的现代化要求设计、建设，拥有教育设施齐全的科技馆、天文台、图书馆、艺术馆、体育馆和游泳池、网球场、标准塑胶田径场等，15层行政楼、5幢教学楼、6个餐厅均按高规格设计。学校还建有校园健身园、鹦鹉园、水族厅和盆景园等特色教育资源。学校教师每人拥有一个独立套间，配有空调、彩电、家具和床上用品等设施；教师公寓和学生公寓每套设有卫生间，供应冷热水；教室和学生寝室还配有空调。生活管理中心为师生提供全天候的医疗、生辅和保安服务。内部教学设施按一流标准配备，完备且先进的校园智能化布线系统使电脑、电视、广播、电话、监控报警系统网络化。校园布局精致典雅，小桥、流水、雕塑、长廊与恢宏的建筑群交相辉映，形成一个优美、和谐的育人环境。

Yuyao, located at the east part of Zhejiang Province (affiliated to Ningbo), abuts on Siming Mountains and East Sea. It covers an area of 1,500 square kilometers and has a population of 850 thousand. With Yaojiang River crossing from west to east, Yuyao enjoys graceful scenery, abundant natural resources, long history, many culture monuments and historical sites. Yuyao is reputed ‘ Southeast Famous City’. Hemudu Culture Ruins has changed the civilization history of China. In the history of Yuyao, many outstanding solons came forth. ‘Four Great Solons’ (Yan Ziling, Wang Yangming, Huang Lizhou and Zhu Shunshui) are the representatives of them. So Yuyao also enjoys the reputation of ‘Famous Literature City’. Since reform and opening up to the outside world, the economy of Yuyao have been developing rapidly. Mr.Yan’s virtue is as high as mountains and as long as rivers. It is in order to develop his spirits that the school is named Gao Feng High School. It is the first combined junior and senior boarding high school of YuYao, set up only by Da Zhong Real Estate Co.,Ltd of YuYao. It costs the company 2.2 billion and it covers 177 square mu with an construction area of 85,000 square meters and over 50,000 meters of grass coverage. Design the scale as 48 classes and 2100 students, and it relies mainly on ordinary high school The school was designed and built up to highly modernized standard, with all kinds of educational facilities such as the science building, astronomical observatory, library, art-teaching building, gymnasium, swimming pool, tennis court and standard stadium with plastic track. 15-storied administration building, five teaching buildings and six dining-rooms are all built by high standards.
