浙江省天台中学创建于1906年，1981年被列为省重点中学，1997年被命名为浙江省一级重点中学。

224名教职工，其中高级教师84人、省功勋教师1人、省特级教师3人、国家级、省级名师培养对象4人、省优秀教师18人。总投资1.5亿元、占地面积357亩、建筑面积10.2万平方米的天台中学始丰新城校区正在全面兴建，将于2006年底竣工。

学校以“严谨、好学、求实、创新”为校训，倡导“敬业爱生、善导创新”的教风和“尊师自律、勤奋进取”的学风，办学成绩始终保持在全省先进行列，曾获得过高考文科省第一、第二名，理科省第二、第三、第六名，学科竞赛成绩突出，近五年来共8次荣获全国中学生学科竞赛（浙江赛区）团体优胜奖，居全省前五名有6人。建校99年来，培养了一大批出类拔萃的人才，其中副教授级以上2000多人，获博士学位100多人，获国务院津贴80多人。

天台中学秉承优良传统，以质量求生存，以改革促发展，正努力把学校办成一所省内领先、国内知名、走向世界的现代化学校。

Tiantai Senior High School, an advanced teaching and research group  in Zhejiang, was founded in 1906. It ranked in 1981 among the key high schools and in 1997, and was crowned as a first-class provincial key senior high school.

Situated at the foot of Tiantai Feihe Mountain, the school covers a total area of nearly 200 Mu (15 hectare) with a beautiful East Lake surrounding .At present, there are over 3,085 students studying in 58 classes. Now the whole staff covers 224, with 84 high-level teachers, 1 provincial model teachers, 3 professional teachers, 18 provincial outstanding teachers, 4 teachers being national or provincial key teachers. Rebuilt with a total investment of nearly 150 million RMB, the new campus of school is being built. It will cover a floor space of 357 mu with a total building area of 102,000 square metres. By the end of 2006, a high-standard modern garden school will have been presented in front of us. 

The school takes the words “incerity, diligence, accuracy, creativity” as its oath. It advocates the teaching style“working diligently, being responsible, sincere and kind to students, and bringing forth creativity” and the learning style “respecting teachers, self-controlling, learning diligently and making progress”. By making great efforts to improve the teaching qualities, it has achieved great success in contests in various subjects as well as in national College Entrance Examination. In the past several years, students have ranked the 1st and the 2nd of art top students, the 2nd, 3rd, 6th of the science top students in National College Entrance Examination. In the recent five years, the school has honourably received Superior Group Award (Zhejiang Region) in National Subject Competitions of Middle School Students. For nearly 100 years since its establishment, it has produced for the country a large number of graduates, among whom there are over 2000 adjunct professors and professors, and more than 100 graduates received their doctor degrees; over 80 graduates are awarded the national allowances by the State Council .

Tiantai Senior High School has been following excellent Chinese tradition with the aim to educate students, focussing on its teaching quality.
